~Our 2012 Summer Olympics~

We had a blast yesterday as we held our own summer Olympic games.
My hope was to get the kids excited for the Olympics, which started yesterday as well.
We talked about how neat it is that the whole world comes together to play games together.
We talked about how important it is to cheer each other on and try our hardest at things.
We only had a couple of rules.
  1. Smile and have FUN
  2. Cheer for each other
  3. Try each thing, it doesn't matter if you win
  4. Drink lots of water because it was HOT
Our events included: Golf,
Soccer, Basketball, Shot Put, Balance Beam,
 Cycling, Volley Ball,
 and Foot Races.
At the end we talked about the torch and they each got their own to eat.  An ice cream cone was perfect for that!
Piper was a good sport, as always, and enjoyed being outside.
While Blake was at the soccer game we watched the Opening Ceremonies and had ourselves a little party.  It was fun for the kids to spot the Queen, and the Princess of course.  We sure loved watching the Queen and James Bond jump out of the helicopter.  That was a good laugh.  Wasn't it fun to have so many good humerus parts in the opening ceremonies?  ahh, Mr. Bean...I don't remember much of that from other years.  We liked seeing some of England and Zane can't wait to go there.  Maybe next week he says...
Cambrie and Zane made the Olympic rings while we watched.  We will hang them up at our house for the next few weeks.
I think our Olympics were a success!
We are now very excited for the games to start!  We will be watching gymnastics, swimming, and cycling for sure at our house.  And probably lots more!
Go USA!

Wow, what a great and fun idea! We were SO SAD we missed the opening ceremonies last night since we were in Idaho. I am so excited to watch the olympics, too.
